Uncommon History

A place where history never rests

Flickering Firelight

Today has been a most unusual of days. Most Saturdays fly past like flash in the pan, but today has been completely relaxing. Most Saturdays find me with more tasks than I can possibly complete in a month of Saturdays. Today I have spent most of the day lounging on my sofa with my trusty laptop typing away at my novel and plugging away at my blog.

A short visit from my mom was a most welcome respite. When we bid each other adeu, it was back to hiding in my virtual world.

Yes, I could have gotten a number of things done around the house, but hey, we all need a little down time now and again.  Besides, the wind was howling all day today. I felt little compelled to spend much time in the wind-whipped chill that tore at my grill cover and spilled leaves and twigs into my hot tub.

We just finished dinner and now I sit staring half into the bright pixels of this intoxicating maching and half into the crackling fire I just built.

It is time to sign off for today and spend a joyful evening with my family gathered around the flickering firelight.

Site Update

For anyone who has visited my site in the past, you will certainly find things are changing.

I originally installed the content management software, Joomla, several years ago. I enjoyed playing with the fancy new “toys” and the organizational wizardry it allowed.

I have recently discovered, however, that I  created a monster that it is increasingly difficult to administer, update and keep fresh. Back in October, I was encouraged to start up a blog and pursued that with much interest. As I began spending more time on my disconnected blog than on my own website, I realized that there was something wrong with this picture.

Subsequently, I decided to replace the encumbering joomla site with a much earlier Wordpress format. I do hope you enjoy. If there is any information that you once found useful and can no longer find it, please let me know. Over time I will do my best to bring as much of the former information back online in the new format.

American Christian Fiction Writers – Genesis

This afternoon, upon months and months, and days and days of writing, critiquing, editing, and re-editing, I submitted the first chapter of my first novel to the American Christian Fiction Writers Genesis Contest.

I look forward to discovering how published professionals view my writing.

Thanks for Visiting!
