A common question many people ask me is who I host my site with and why? It is a very valid question and the answer is not always so simple. In reality, it really depends on what you are looking to get from a host provider. Money (ie. cost) does rank high in the decision price, but for many providers you do get what you pay for.
For me there are many other aspects that I look for in a web host provider. Up-time is a key factor for me as I experienced way too much website down time with some of the various “budget” providers I signed up with in the past. Having a free or cheap site is great, but if it isn’t available to people, what is the point?
Another key factor is customer service. Let’s face it, most of us are not professional webmasters and some of the tasks involved in running a website can be daunting. Your time is valuable so don’t waste it on a provider that has crummy service and technical support.
The list could go on for pages, but still the question remains; “How do I find the right provider to solve my particular needs?” Well it just so happens that there are folks out there that have already done much of this work for you. Before deciding which host is best for you, seek out the best budget hosting solution that works for your needs.
