So, my most recent post was about the great oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The news continues to broadcast diatribes of so many voices protesting the use of oil and other fossil fuels. As I continue to ponder our dependence on oil, I began to wonder more about the cars we use every day. We complain about the price of gas and oil, but you may have to face the fact that oil is here to stay for quite some time. However, there is at least one more product that is required, perhaps even more than oil.
As long as people are still driving their cars (and of course I will be among that number) the one thing they will need, perhaps more so than even oil, is full coverage car insurance for their noxious, fume-spewing machines.
I can honestly say that I do hope oil is around for a very long time. There are few things more inviting to me than the roar of classic Detroit muscle screaming down the highway towards the next gas station. My favorite sport, NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing, thrives on the golden nectar of petroleum products. Take a visit to any one of the NASCAR tracks during a race weekend and you may be amazed at the amount of fuel needed to bring the racers, their teams and their fans to the event.
If you climb to the top of the grandstands and look out over the sea of vehicles, take just a moment to put the fact of oil behind you and consider just how much money is spent to insure each one of those vehicles. We all want to save money at the pump, but most of us take our auto insurance coverage for granted. It may be a very wise move to revisit your insurance policy and do some comparison shopping. You may be very surprised at the savings you could generate…and you could spend that money on more gasoline!
