It's the Write Time

It's the Write Time has been online in various form since 2005. Maintaining an online presence for this long has not been an easy task, but it has been very worthwhile. The rewards offset the challenges and in the process I have met some wonderful people....

Friday Fiction – A Christmas Stalking

Crystal flakes of pure-white snow floated down from clouds that stretched across the heavens as far as they eye could see. The snow gathered upon the frozen ground and drifted against the steps of a cheery, yellow house upon the top of a slow, sloping hill. Snow gathered upon high branches of the majestic pines that encircled the home. A tree squirrel flittered from branch to branch, sending the snow that had gathered there to the sparkling floor below. A …

Writing during the holiday season

I don’t know about other writers, but the Christmas and holiday season is typically one of my most productive times for writing. Although it may seem to be an unusual time for the writing process to flourish, there are a number of reasons this time provides for my creativity. One of the most important factors that writers look for in performing their craft is time of peace and quiet that can be set aside to become one with a manuscript. …

Its the Write Time received the gift of new life!

The last couple of months here at It’s the Write Time, but through patience and perseverance it looks like we have finally overcome the hardships. Back in October this site became the target of an unrelenting hacker, bent on destroying my ability to provide writing news, updates and earn profits for my efforts. Having finally worked through the numerous files either hacked or completely destroyed by the mischievous villain I thought I was back in the clear. Then in November …

Almost there!

Switching to a new domain server and web host is never and easy task, but thanks to fellow ACFW writer, Lynette Sowell, I was directed to the talented (and HELPFUL!) folks at Surpass Web Hosting. It has taken less than a week to get my domain transferred and achieve the ability to once again take on the process of rebuilding my website. My greatest hope is that the services at Surpass are much more stable than what had become a …

We are moving-please be patient

Due to factors beyond my control (lack of technical support at my current web host) I will be transferring It’s the Write Time to a new host. The process may take a couple of days to come to fruition and after that I will be setting up home in my new digs. I appreciate your continued patience with all of this while I move my online home. I have blogged numerous times on the express importance of having a dedicated …

Its the Write Time is back…again

I know many of you have been wondering what has happened to this blog and I can assure you at certain points in the last two months I have been asking myself the same question. Apparently I garnered the attention of someone with genuine hacking skills that for whatever reason doesn’t like my sites. I have been combating attacks against all of my blogs since August. Past attacks were a nuisance, but the attacker shifted his strategy in this latest …

Zenni-What your eyes desire and deserve

Is your vision getting a little hazy lately? Have signs or restaurant menus become too blurry to read? And what about all those recent headaches that medicine just doesn’t seem able to control.  Being a writer and a reader, these are very common problems. Perhaps it is time to listen to what your eyes are telling you. Chances are that your eyes are begging for a stylish and functional set of eyeglasses. Yes, it happens to many of us and …

What software do you use when writing?

I’m always interested to see the different tools and techniques various writers use today. The advent of the computer age has created a myriad of possibilities within the writing craft, but there remain some die-hards who continue to peck away at an old fashioned typewriter. What do you use to write your stories or articles? I have a few different tools at my disposal, but I would probably say that the vast majority of my writing is done in Microsoft …

Camaraderie is developed in a natural way that the Boy Scout meeting becomes a weekly event that the boys actually look forward to. Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood

I just received word that Dennis Rainey’s latest book on manhood, Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood, is currently being made available as an eBook download for only $1.99! Here is the book description: What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done? As men, all of us face decisions in life that demand courage. Big or little, complex or straightforward, these choices—let’s call them battles—matter a great deal. One courageous choice leads to another; tomorrow’s integrity depends on today’s …

eBook Formatting – Amazon’s Kindle

If you aren’t looking ahead and planning for an eventual switch to publishing eBooks, you are already behind the curve. Ebook sales are on the rise while print publishing revenues continue to falter. I already realize I am behind the curve, but am trying to look ahead and get a better understanding of this “new” market. Among the top contenders for Ebooks is Amazon’s Kindle. Their format is proprietary, of course, and I have been investigating the different avenues writers …

What can you do with $10?

With $10, you can experience a quality cell phone plan that even includes texting services. You might be wondering, "So what's the catch?" While many phone plans may appear attractive at first, long term contracts and extra fees end up costing way more than $10, but not with TracFone.

Central Texas Wildfires

I have lived in Central Texas since 1984 and while there have been the occasional droughts and wildfires, what we are experiencing in 2011 beats anything I have ever seen. Not a single day has gone by that I have not spoken with someone either directly or indirectly affected by the massive Bastrop fire. In fact, I have at least two family members who have most likely lost their home to the flames. While we in Austin are a safe …

Choose the plan which suits you more

Guest Blog By: Kim L. There are a lot of benefits that employers can offer their employees. One of the best, perhaps, is the benefit of health insurance. As an employer, whether you choose to cover the premium in its entirety is up to you. For most employees, simply the ability to get in on a group rate is gift enough. Many employers offer health insurance to their employees without charging their employees any portion of the premiums. Small group …

Do you still read paper books?

As the eBook market continues to grow by leaps and bounds, I have found myself considering taking the switch to reading via some sort of eReader instead of paper books. I will probably never completely forgo the feel of a paper book in my hands, but there are some valuable incitements that are luring me to begin the switch. I love to read, although I haven’t been giving myself the amount of reading time that I used to. A part …
